John Brown died from wounds on 28th March, 1915, after having been brought back to the United Kingdom but as yet, there is no information, as to when and where he was wounded. The 2nd Middlesex battalion was part of 23 Brigade, 8th Division that had arrived in France in November, 1914 and in March, 1915 had been heavily involved in ther Battle of Neuve Chapelle where they suffered many casiualties.
